Notice of Major Traffic Restrictions in Akihabara Chuo Dori due to Tokyo Marathon 2026
Due to the "Tokyo Marathon 2026" scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2026, significant traffic control measures will be implemented on Chuo Dori in the Akihabara area.
Traffic Restriction Period and Impact
The traffic restrictions on Chuo Dori (between Suda-cho and Ueno-hirokoji) are scheduled for March 1, 2026, from 8:55 AM to 11:50 AM. During this period, all passage, including pedestrians, will be prohibited. This will affect access to shops on the west side of Chuo Dori from the Akihabara Station area.
Access Information
Detours and a temporary shuttle bus service operating between the JR Akihabara Station West Side Transport Plaza and the Manseibashi Bus Stop area, and between the Nakau Akihabara store vicinity and the Ramen Waizu vicinity are planned. Pedestrian Paradise
Aside from the traffic restriction hours (scheduled 8:55 AM - 11:50 AM), the Chuo Dori Pedestrian Paradise is scheduled to operate as usual on March 1, 2026. However, this may be subject to change in case of heavy rain or storms.
