Toraya's Confections Featuring Seasonal Ingredients
The fair will feature a variety of Toraya's seasonal fresh confections that reflect the changing seasons. A highlight is the 'Okourikiman' (made with yam flour, containing brown sugar anko), available from September 1st. Its design, inspired by a fresh pear, and the harmonious blend of yam flour dough and brown sugar anko are particularly noteworthy. Sales for this item begin at 11:00 AM.
Additionally, from September 20th to 26th, Toraya's Ohagi (sweet rice cakes) with either Ogura (red bean) or brown sugar anko will be available. The Ogura anko offers a rich bean flavor, while the brown sugar anko highlights the unique sweetness of black sugar. Ohagi sales commence at 11:30 AM.
Furthermore, 'Kuriko Mochi' (made with glutinous rice cake wrapped around sweet bean paste, filled with anko and chestnut), a confection representing the flavors of autumn, will also be offered. It is crafted using finely-sifted chestnuts mixed with white bean paste, formed into a crumble, and then coated around the anko filling with gyuhi (a soft mochi-like confection). Toraya uses only select new chestnuts harvested in the current year for this exquisite treat, allowing you to fully enjoy the taste and aroma of chestnuts. For the exact start date of 'Kuriko Mochi' sales, please inquire directly with the store. Most confections are available from 11:00 AM, with some exceptions.
