Canal City Hakata in Fukuoka is set to host a special limited-time event, "YAMAKASA," which combines traditional Hakata decorative floats (Kazari Yamakasa) with a spectacular show of video, light, and fountains.

The "YAMAKASA" Show

"YAMAKASA" is an entertainment performance held exclusively at night during the period when the decorative floats are on public display. This show vividly brings to life the spirit of Kyushu's festivals, particularly the thrilling climax of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa, known as "Oiyama." Utilizing cutting-edge video technology, fountains, and lighting effects, the show projects powerful imagery of the men hauling the floats, accompanied by the iconic "Oisa!" chant, against the backdrop of the magnificent decorative float. This event is part of Canal City Hakata's long-standing tradition of presenting decorative floats in collaboration with the local community since its opening in 1996. The impressive decorative floats, standing approximately 12 meters tall, offer a breathtaking spectacle from any angle.
