The "Kyoto Filmmakers Lab" is a program where young talents from around the world gather to experience authentic period drama short film production at Kyoto's studios, under the guidance of leading directors and filmmakers.
Program Overview
This program, held as a youth development initiative of the "Kyoto Historica International Film Festival (KHIFF)," marks its 18th year. Participants in the "Hands-on Period Drama" course will create approximately 3-minute short period dramas using sets at Toei Kyoto Studio Park and Shochiku Studio. The "Masters Session" offers lectures by judges from the Tokyo International Film Festival and instructors from the Venice Biennale, along with sword fighting workshops, providing opportunities to interact with key figures in the film business and learn approaches to film festivals.
