Discover "Super Power Generating Bacteria" at Miraikan!
Miraikan hosts the "Let's Find Super Power Generating Bacteria Together Project 2026" for junior high/high school groups from June 20, 2026. Participants will create "mud batteries" and discuss future energy solutions.
The Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) is hosting the "Let's Find Super Power Generating Bacteria Together Project 2026," a citizen science program for junior high and high school groups.
This exciting project invites participants to search for "power generating bacteria" – microbes that can produce electricity – in local soil samples. This initiative, building on the success of previous years, aims to explore new energy alternatives.
Participants will create "mud batteries" using provided kits and measure their electricity generation. Through online interim and final reporting sessions, they will share results, discuss findings with researchers and student mentors, and delve into the potential of these unique bacteria.
This is a fantastic opportunity for school clubs or groups of friends interested in science to engage in real-world research during their summer break.
