ART HUB NAGOYA: New Art Hub Opens at Matsuzakaya Nagoya
Matsuzakaya Nagoya launches "ART HUB NAGOYA," Japan's sole all-art floor, fostering young artists and regional collaboration to energize the Tokai art scene.
A new hub for Nagoya's art scene has opened in 2024. The "ART HUB NAGOYA" on the 8th floor of Matsuzakaya Nagoya's main building, designed by architect Yuko Nagayama, has been reborn as Japan's only "all-art floor" within a department store.
This revitalized space features the "Daiichi Gallery" and "Daini Gallery" for paintings and crafts, alongside the newly established "open gallery" designed to host a wide range of content. ART HUB NAGOYA aims to be more than just a place to sell artworks; it seeks to invigorate the art market in the Tokai region by connecting young artists, local galleries, universities, companies, government, and visitors.
The "artkake ART LABO," operated by the Gifu University student startup "artkake," provides opportunities for emerging artists and supports local talent. Additionally, "unique," produced by the popular "Dakara, Kyou ga Yokatta to Omoeru." cafe from Osu, offers a fluid space where art and various content can freely interact.
