CENRETA ART AWARD 2026 Thailand+Japan : Exhibition in Nagoya Held
The "CENRETA ART AWARD 2026 Thailand+Japan : Exhibition in Nagoya" will be held at Matsuzakaya Nagoya Store, located in Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
This exhibition showcases 47 powerful works by finalists selected from approximately 400 submissions by students from Japan and Thailand. It offers a valuable opportunity to experience international exchange through art and witness the creativity of young talents who will shape the future.
Event Overview
The CENRETA ART AWARD is a joint public competition by J. Front Retailing and Thailand's Central Group. The name "CENRETA" is derived from "Senri" (long-lasting creativity and future potential) and "RITA" (consideration for others), embodying the desire to provide a stage for the next generation of creators. This year's theme is "EXCHANGE," featuring works that explore relationships between self and others, individuals and society, objects and things, and various connections. The exhibited pieces span diverse genres including paintings, sculptures, photographs, video art, and digital art.
Featured Works and Related Projects
The exhibition will include award-winning works selected at the award ceremony held in Bangkok in October 2025, such as Nozomi Kubota's "AI's Silent Omissions" (Video), Manami Okamoto's "A Fish Out of Water" (Photography), and Lily Onga's "Animated Receipt: Recorded in Kappabashi" (Video).
Additionally, Matsuzakaya Nagoya Store's Art Gallery will host a solo exhibition by Hiroto Rakusho titled "Mede-Thai," exploring the "spirit of prayer" and "memory of beauty" flowing between Japan and Thailand.
This event is also a collaborative project with "Thai Festival in Nagoya 2026." A stamp rally "Lucky Ganesha Tour" will take place across the Thai Festival venue, Matsuzakaya Nagoya Store, and Nagoya Parco. The festival itself, held at Hisaya Odori Park, will allow visitors to experience Thai food and culture, offering a vibrant taste of Thailand without leaving Nagoya.
