Free media literacy workshop for children using an AI fake detection mystery game, held at Miraikan on July 25, 2026.

謎解きゲームでAIフェイクを見極めよう!メディアリテラシーを育むワークショップ

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), located at 2-3-6 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo, will host a "Workshop to Identify AI Fakes Through a Mystery-Solving Game: Fostering Media Literacy." This workshop is part of the "Tokyo Bay eSG Project," which aims to create a sustainable future city model. It is designed to help children naturally develop the ability to discern information in an era of increasingly sophisticated digital content. Participants will engage in a fun, game-like experience to learn practical skills for distinguishing truth from falsehood in the face of AI-generated fake information.

The workshop begins with participants receiving a "challenge letter" from a classmate named "Rei." The blog posts left by Rei are filled with misinformation, requiring participants to work in teams to solve puzzles and identify what is real and what is fabricated. Through this process, they will cultivate media literacy essential for navigating the vast amount of information found online and on social media. The workshop also encourages deeper reflection on how AI is being used in society, the emergence of fake content, and the criteria we should use to judge "truth" in a future where intelligent digital technologies are integrated into our cities.
